The work should take between 12 and 20 hours per month and pays a stipend of $300 per month during the church year (10 months). The ideal candidate would be at least 25 (to ensure enough separation from the group), but also able to relate to youth in a meaningful way. First Parish Unitarian Universalist - Canton, a lively, liberal faith community is seeking a part-time(20 hours per week) Office Administrator to begin July 1, 2014. The qualified applicant will have 2-4 years’ successful experience in an office setting, excellent skills in writing, communication, computer usage, problem solving, and project management. Bachelor’s degree preferred. He or she will exhibit strong empathy, the ability to multi-task, patience, flexibility and compassion.
The Office Administrator is the hub of communication flow for the Minister, the Director of Religious Education, the Parish Committee, and the Congregation. It is the responsibility of the Office Administrator to have the needed information on hand and to keep it current.
Our Office Administrator is responsible for a broad variety of functions that ensure the smooth operation of church programming and day-to-day procedures, with guidance from the minister. Directing the administrative affairs of the church includes tasks in the areas of:
Administration, including sustaining proper functioning of church office; management of church database; understanding and implementing church governance; attending monthly staff meetings.
Communication, including creating impeccable written communications on a weekly and monthly basis; facilitating communication among church leadership, membership and the community; educating FPUU members, friends, visitors, guest speakers etc. regarding FPUU policies as appropriate.
Leadership and Volunteer Support, including providing administrative assistance to Minister, professional staff and the Parish Committee; under the guidance of the Parish Committee overseeing the production of materials for FPUU Annual Meeting.
Management of Building Use, including overseeing the use of FPUU spaces by members and friends of the congregation for committee activities and FPUU events, including maintaining the church calendar; acting as the primary contact with people interested in renting space for regular meetings, weddings, memorial services and special events.
Ministry, including engaging in on-the-spot care of members of the community on issues that require sensitivity and empathy.
Skills needed to fulfill these demands include: clerical, organizational, verbal and written communication, human relations and ability to work independently,
Technology skills including website and Facebook maintenance, Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher - all absolutely necessary for this position.

Acting Director of Religious Education
First Parish Church in Norwell is recruiting an Acting Director of Religious Education to serve during the transition between Directors of Religious Education by running the church school and Lifespan Religious Education programs which promote the personal and spiritual growth of the children and adult members of the church. This position will report to the Minister and Religious Education Committee and is up to 30 hours per week beginning August 25, 2013 through June 30, 2014.
The Acting Director is responsible for recruiting teachers and baby-care room workers for the church school year, providing teacher orientation and teacher support throughout the year, working closely with RE Committee and others to develop curriculum, getting feedback and developing the religious education program, coordinating, the Youth Group, working with the Minister and other interested church members to coordinate and/or provide Lifespan RE programs and other regular and routine operational duties.
